Car Hire Services – Chauffeur Drive & Self Drive
When you hire a car with Europcar, the service we provide differs in each region, depending on which services are best suited to conditions and the needs of those travelling in the region.
There are two distinct modes of service we provide with your car rental
1) Chauffeur service: India, Thailand and the Philippines
This service provides you with an experienced and carefully selected chauffeur for the duration of your rental. In India, all our chauffeurs are certified by Hubert Ebner-one of the world’s leading chauffeur training establishments. In the Philippines, all our drivers are accredited with the Department of Tourism.
Our chauffeur will meet with you at your preferred location and take you anywhere you want to go within the time and distance specified in your booking.
In India, standard time / distance packages are
- 4 hours and 40 kilometers
- 8 hours and 80 kilometers
In Thailand, standard time / distance packages are
In the Philippines, standard time / distance packages are
- 3 hours, unlimited kilometers
- 10 hours, unlimited kilometers
These packages are simply the basic service provided – you can, of course, travel for a greater time or distance and simply pay additional charges at the rates specified in each region's Rental Terms & Conditions. Costs for each rental are calculated based on travelling from the nearest Europcar branch / depot location and back.
If you're travelling a longer distance or for a longer time than one day, we can also offer overnight rentals and in Thailand, long term (1 month) chauffeur service, but please note that this service attracts additional charges, which can be found in each region's Rental Terms & Conditions.

This service is currently an option with every Europcar rental in India, Thailand and the Philippines. It is not offered in Australia and New Zealand.
2) Self Drive: Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, India and the Philippines
This service provides you with the flexibility of self drive car rental. Every rental car is collected from your chosen Europcar depot and can be returned either to the same location or any other Europcar depot (Australia, New Zealand and the Philippines only) within the city of rental origin, (one way rental). Bookings are still made on a time & kilometre basis, but overnight rentals do not attract additional charges.
The name of the driver must appear on the Rental Agreement and rentals are subject to age, licence and damage liability provisions.
Standard time / distance packages are
Australia & New Zealand
- For Passenger Cars, minivan/people movers and 4WD 500 Kilometers per day in Australia and New Zealand
- Commercial Vehicles such as Trucks, Utes and Vans 100 Kilometers per day in Australia and New Zealand
- Prestige / luxury cars including sports cars 200 Kilometers per day in Australia and New Zealand
India
For Indian rentals, the maximum kilometres allowed in a day is 150.
Thailand
For Thai rentals, there are no maximum kilometres.
Philippines
For Filipino rentals, there are no maximum kilometres for self drive customers
These packages are simply the basic service provided – you can, of course, travel for a greater time or distance and simply pay additional charges at the rates specified in each region's Rental Terms & Conditions. Standard costs for each rental are calculated based on travelling from the nearest Europcar branch / depot location and back, but the option is available to return to another location (Australia, New Zealand and the Philippines only) within city of rental origin (one way rental) subject to additional charges.
